About Us

Artistic Director Christina Weinzetl created the idea for ACT I Academy with the goal of creating an organization that was more than just a dance studio; she hoped to establish a place that would help create well-rounded performers in as many disciplines and techniques as possible.

The full vision of the ACT I Academy has four parts:

  • We will offer advanced, affordable, technical training in all areas of the performing arts within one central, local, and safe location.

  • We will prepare our students to be successful within their dance, theatre, and musical goals while encouraging them to push those goals even further.

  • We will strive to provide a creative environment to allow students to discover and delve into their areas of passion within the arts and grow as young performers.

  • We will provide performers with skills that they can take back out into the world with them.

In addition to year-long dance training in a variety of disciplines, the Academy’s workshops and camps will provide unique opportunities to blend performance skills together and train students to do more than they ever thought possible.

Our community theatre company ACT I, Inc. was formed in the fall of 2002 with the intentions of providing an affordable means for the youth of Cartersville, Georgia to participate in community theatre. Over the years, we have striven to provide a safe place for our actors to grow and learn while taking part in a variety of opportunities to expand their knowledge of the performing arts. In February of 2021, we set out to provide even more opportunities for growth and development. Through this effort, the ACT I Academy was born.
ACT I’s mission has always revolved around providing as many opportunities as possible to our family of performers. The ACT I Academy has proven to help expand those opportunities without limitation. We love having the opportunity to help our students to grow and thrive in all areas of the performing arts!
